Cycling Does Not Have To Hurt Your Knees

Often you may get hurt when cycling. In fact cycling does not have to hurt your knees. This has proved by professional cyclists. You have powerful muscle strength available to you from your quads which can easily overwhelm and stress the components in your knees. In fact your knees are made for running and walking but not for pedaling a bike.

Practically the knee transmits power down your leg through your ankle and foot to the pedal during your pedaling. This rotating movement of the pedal, with a lot of help from the gearing moves you and your bike down the road.

You have to find a nice flat area like a shopping mall parking lot or level street in your next ride. You need to shift your gears when you are pedaling very slowly in a high gear. Now shift gears until you are spinning your pedals very, very fast while maintaining the same forward speed.

After that you have to shift back to the slower pedal speed without changing your forward speed. Of course you will not feel the different stress/pressure on your knees now. This is why your knees hurt when you are riding because there is a stress at slower pedal speeds.

Make sure you should spin your pedals rapidly always. Even you must ensure that a cadence at 80-110 rpms will be easier for your knees and legs. At last you should keep in your mind that cycling does not have bad effect to your knees.
